As the US sits in midseason and the Australians gear up for the draft before their March pre-season games, the Canadian Football League is entering its home stretch! Friday and Saturday hold the last four games of the season, including the all-important Montreal at Hamilton slugfest for the Eastern Division title! The link is here, but the basic premise is this: With the tie-breaking edge belonging to the Alouettes, the Hamilton Tiger-Cats will have to win by at least eight points to become the division champion. Anything less, and Montreal's the top seed in the East with the bye week that earns. If Hamilton loses and Toronto takes care of business Friday night as expected at home against bottom-feeder Ottawa, then the Tiger-Cats are eliminated and Toronto's in second place and in the playoffs.
The other battle in the last week falls for the third spot in the West versus the crossover spot to the East...and we're not sure which opportunity's better, frankly! But for Saskatchewan to stay in the West, they'll have to win their game AND hope that British Columbia loses to a Calgary team that's undoubtedly going to rest some key players.
