Undefeated Marshall trails Alabama-Birmingham in the fourth quarter, 18-17, after a UAB touchdown that put them up one. Now, the Thundering Herd sits on the UAB 35 yardline, fourth down...and they punt? Really? You're deep in enemy territory, losing in the fourth! Yes, it was sixteen to go, but what do you gain by punting? Twenty yards?
The answer, it turns out this time, is as follows: Punt is downed at the one, the Blazers fumble in the end zone, and Marshall recovers. Touchdown, Marshall. So, at least THIS time, it worked out beautifully. We still disagree, but this time it worked.
