Listening to Michael Smith and Jemele Hill on their ESPN podcast discuss the Florida St prodigy Jameis Winston: their position is that a "signature performance" against Notre Dame will cure most of the ills that NFL scouts see in him. We have one reply...
ANY CLUB that has the stupidity to draft a quarterback with the faulty judgment of Jameis Winston will GET what they DESERVE.
You can successfully put a stupid athlete in 23 of the 24 starting positions on a football team. But if you put a quarterback who has poor decision making skills in charge of your team? Let's take a look - Ryan Leaf, jaMarcus Russell, Mark Sanchez... All the talent, all the athletic prowess in the world doesn't matter for a quarterback. On the other hand, a good athlete with a great football mind will excel - Joe Montana, Drew Brees, Tom Brady. (And put a great mind in a great QB body? Peyton Manning and Russell Wilson? Legend status.)
Winston makes BAD decisions. He's proved it time and time again. So far, in high school and at Florida St, he's gotten by with talent. In the NFL? Everyone has talent. If Winston is a starter for more than two experimental-at-best years...if he's even IN the league five years after he's drafted, we will be astounded.
